Usually speaking, I'm a steadfast fan of Liteon drives. I've heard and read several comments that Liteon is usually a bargain brand or that they're affordable, but what a lot of people don't know is that for the longest time, Liteon, together with LG, produced most drives that had been sold under the name-brand names, 1 classic example becoming Sony! (Though lately I've read that Liteon has been began outsourcing the manufacturing of some of their drives, which is ridiculous!) So, though other people spent far more cash to get a "better, name-brand" drive, what they had been definitely getting was a Liteon having a unique label. Meanwhile, I'd get the same drive at a lower price, often with bonus characteristics enabled and/or supported from/by the factory, including DVD book-type setting. For that reason, I've been purchasing Liteon drives for several years now, and I've only ever replaced a Liteon drive when updating to new technologies. Which leads me to the reason I bought this drive. I upgraded from a Liteon 24X DVD (iHAS424-08 - the 1 with the mediatech chipset/an actual Liteon drive, as opposed to the iHAS424-98!) which has been the top, most feature-rich drive I've ever owned.
